Recordings by FiddleBop
Fourteen Strings: My Favourite
Things. On 12-13 September 2008, Jo, Roger and I went
along to Hats
Off studios in Stonesfield, Oxfordshire. With the much-valued
help of Michael Taylor (Thanks, Mickie!), we recorded some fourteen
tracks in two days. The best eleven of these are now on our CD
Fourteen Strings: My
Favourite
Things.
We did all the recording 'live-ish': guitar, bass and most of the fiddle parts were recorded live (all of us in the same room at the same time, but separated by windowed screens). Most of the vocals, and some of the fiddle parts were put on separately. Mickie then mixed it all together. Musically, not all is perfect, but we are pleased with the result. We think that it captures the feel of FiddleBop, live!
The cover of the CD shows us playing live at the Music at the Crossroads festival, in July 2008. And the title? Well, the fiddle has four strings, so does the bass. And the guitar has six strings. And we all love to play!
Email us if you'd like a copy of the CD. Or you can download the tracks here (mp3 format), if you'd prefer.
Whichever you choose, let us know what you think.

2006 Demo. Before this, all we'd recorded were a few tunes/songs for demo purposes.
We did this on 11 November 2006. Our friend Nick
Daisley of Folly
Bridge Records
(who also hosts
this website) brought his recording equipment along to St
Andrew's church in Great Rollright, where we had set up our
instruments in the
nave.
Nice acoustics, but unfortunately rather cold! Which did not help our playing... Anyway, here are some snippets from the session (all in mp3 format).
- St Thomas (Sonny Rollins) 1.6 MB
- Charleston (anonymous) 2.2 MB
- Lambeth Walk (Furber/Rose/Gay) 1.1 MB
Many thanks to Nick Daisley, and to St Andrew's church.
