Hello hello hello XXXX!!!
So why are you getting three hellos? 'Cos it is three months since the last FiddleBop newsletter, that's why! And besides, this is the first of our email missives for 2015. Which promises to be a fantastically good year (for FiddleBop that is, I'm not so sure about the rest of the world) so why shouldn't I come over all exuberant and thrice-greeting, like???
And yipppppeeee! Spring is not far away. And what will arrive with it? Why, hot jazz swing... with that gypsy zing: the first FiddleBop gigs of 2015, that's what! After a bit of a break we are raring to go once more.
And a-raring we will be, at The Norman Knight (Whichford, Warwicks CV36 5PE) on Friday 20 March, from 8.30 pm! We've Esther on bass this evening (and for most of our other 2015 gigs), with her earth-striding low arpeggios and skyward leaps. And Jo and Martin and me will also be moving your feet and warming your soul (or is that the other way round?) with old favourites and some new surprises... Tim Young is landlord at the Knight, and his establishment will provide fine food and drink and a genuinely friendly welcome for you. And we'll provide the music. Is it a deal?
Then on Sunday 29 March we are a-commoning along (not a-raring, geddit?) to Le QuecumBar ("The World's Premier Django Reinhardt Gypsy Swing Venue") at 42-44 Battersea High Street, London SW11 3HX. This will be a cracker! Not only is Le Que (the name tends to gets shortened after one-too-many glasses of good wine) a rather spectacular fin-de-siecle kind of place in which to sit and eat some rather good stuff and drink some even better stuff, but FiddleBop will be pulling out all the stops for this, our second gig at Le Que! There are videos from our last visit here if you want to sample Le Que's unique ambience. Plus you might want to look at a review of the evening, by blogger Lexie Carducci, who took the photo on the right. Tickets are £8 in advance from here or here, or £10 on the door. This one will be just plain spectacular... see you there? Hope so!
There are more FiddleBop gigs after that, including some very interesting ones. And lots still more in the pipeline (see our always up-to-date gig list), but that's all for now. O no, there's one more thing: if you get the chance, please have a look at our revamped website1. What do you think of the fireworks? (I like 'em, anyway...)
